The Victory of Faith

Posted on October 24, 2025 by ruthbillingsley

Part One

Faith is the substance
Of things we hope for,
Proof of things not seen.
Faith opens the door.

By faith we can know
That all of the earth
Was framed by God’s Word.
Unseen things gave birth.

Abel’s sacrifice
Was excellent, meek.
Righteousness revealed.
His good gifts still speak.

Enoch was taken.
He did not see death
Because he pleased God,
Faith in every breath.

We cannot please God
Without faith, we know.
He who will believe
Has faith that will grow.

Filled with firm belief
That God is for real,
And a rewarder
For those who will kneel.

Noah saw warnings
Of things not yet seen,
Moved with godly fear,
Made an ark, so keen.

Abraham, by faith,
Traveled not knowing
God promised a land
With blessings flowing.

Sarah received strength
When she became old.
Believing in God,
Her faith was foretold.

Born was a nation,
Like sand on the shore,
Like stars in the sky,
Multitudes and more.
(Based on Hebrew 11)

Faith is trusting in God’s promises, even when we cannot see them. Faith is trusting in God’s character, learning who He is and what He has done for His people, and knowing He will do it for us. When we have faith, we can step out and do the work God has called us to do. This is our hope, even though we do not know what our future brings. We look beyond our present circumstances and trust on God’s Word. We should be continually growing in what we base our lives on – faith.
