Calm My Anxious Heart

Posted on August 20, 2021 by ruthbillingsley

Week Three

Psalm 139:13-16

Content to Be Me

I am a painting.
God holds the brush.
Working a masterpiece,
In Him will I trust.

Trust Him to mix
The colors just right,
So the picture will be
Beautiful and bright.

Full of compassion
For family and friends,
Honesty and strength,
Character that mends.

Mends broken hearts
That only love can fill.
Works to perform
In doing God’s will.

Thank You for making me
Just as I am,
A picture that some day
Reflects the Lamb.

Yes, we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, who today continues to paint you and me into a masterpiece of His will. He created our inmost being, planned our lives, and equipped us to fulfill His plan even before we were born.

We are to be content with the body that God has given us and focus on our inward beauty.  In time our outward appearance will fade, so we should strive to be beautiful inside, in our hearts, with a gentle spirit, which is precious to God.

“Man looks on the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7

Look in a mirror.  What do you see?  Do you see the character of Christ or an outline of worry and anxiety?  We are to be molded into the image of Christ. How?  By taking control of our feelings and emotions.  Let God guide you and paint a picture that pleases Him. Whatever frame God has given you will hold the picture of His love.  His perfect love for us will calm our anxious hearts.
