Be Still

Posted on July 3, 2026 by ruthbillingsley

“ Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Be still and know I am God,
And I will be given praise.
Honor among the nations
Exalted with glory raise.

The Lord Almighty with us,
He is our fortress and shield.
All my days will exalt Him,
And to His sovereignty yield.

Summer is often a season packed with travel, to-do lists, and other activities that keep us busy. This verse offers a refreshing invitation to “Be still, and know that I am God.” True rest is not just having time off, but in knowing God.

When we read “be still,” it is easy to picture a relaxing morning with a quiet cup of coffee, but it is much deeper than that. It means to let go of your anxieties, and realize we are not in control of everything. Let go of the noise and shift your focus on the quiet where you can feel God’s presence and remember that He is in control.

Even when you are busy you can find a few minutes in your everyday activities to rest your heart in God’s hands. Give him your worries and anxieties. God has everything under His control. Let your faith grow. Take a break from busyness and find refreshing stillness in Him.
