MY PRAYER
Waken me, Lord, in the morning.
Teach me to listen to You.
Keep me and guide me each hour
And help me all the day through.
Help me to love all Your statutes,
Telling what’s good and what’s right.
Enlighten my eyes and my mind,
And make me pure in Your sight.
Fill me each day with Your Spirit.
Great joy and peace may it bring.
Joy that is full of Your glory,
And peace that makes my heart sing.
Help me to be kind and giving,
To show Your love within me.
Lifting up others to You, Lord,
Becoming all I can be.
(From My Heart)
Feathers, beads, and beauty – little girls with hair bows, boys with water guns, men with headdresses, and women with shawls were seen at the Lower Brule, SD Sioux Reservation last week. We experienced a culture and tradition that has been kept alive for many years. As we gave out bottles of water, my prayer was to plant seeds. Seeds of faith, hope, and love for this community. The local church, Hilltop Baptist, will continue to reach out to these families, telling them about Jesus.
We were able to use one of the booths that surrounded the powwow grounds. Crafts that we had prepared were available for the children, including: hair ties with ribbons, key chains to braid, and a variety of other crafts. We bought 3000 bottles of water and put labels on each one. As we handed them out, we prayed for each person, that they would know who Jesus is, be guided to a bible believing church, and receive a glimpse of Jesus’s light.
We unloaded our trailer of 225 backpacks filled with school supplies, shirts, socks, gloves, stocking caps and more. We also brought diapers and other supplies for the church, we built a raised garden, and put labels on the water bottles. My prayer is for this church to reach out to the community with the hope of salvation, the love of Jesus, and a commitment to help others in the community. Prayer changes things.
