God’s Omnipotence

Posted on May 9, 2025 by ruthbillingsley

Part Two

“Have you commanded
The dawn in its place,
The light that judges
Each wicked man’s face?

“Have you gone into
The springs of the sea
Or walked in search of
Its depths’ mystery?

“Have the gates of death
Been revealed to you?
Have you seen its doors
Or its shadow’s view?

“Have you understood
The breadth of the earth?
Tell me, if you know
The scope of its worth.

“Where is the way to
The dwelling of light?
From where comes darkness
That comes in the night?

“Have you entered the
Storehouses of snow,
Or have you seen hail
Reserved for below?

“What is the way to
Where lightning’s dispersed,
Where east winds scatter
Over all the earth?
(Based on Job 38:12-24)

God questions Job about His creation and nature. He did it all and He did it for us. He continues to speak to Job, “Have you ever made morning to come? Do you have that kind of power? What about the springs of the sea? ” We have no knowledge of these things of God:

  • The dawn of each day
  • the springs of the sea
  • The gates of death
  • The breath of the earth
  • Darkness and light
  • Snow and hail
  • Lightning

God questions Job to show how little he knows of the mind and activity of the Almighty God. Here is where we find ourselves. We have no idea of the vastness of God, or the nature, love, mercy, grace, and might of our Lord and Savior. We trust in His omnipotence and live each day in faith.
