Hear, my precious children, As your father preaches, You will know good doctrine That understanding teaches. I was my father’s son, Tender and young in years. He taught me, and he said, “Retain my words; keep near. Keep my commands and live. Get wisdom; understand. Do not forget my words Or forsake God’s demands. Wisdom will preserve you; If you love her, obey. She will keep and protect. Exalt her every day. Then she will promote you. Of your honor, she'll sing. Embrace her; receive grace. Your crown of glory bring.” Hear my son; receive my words. Your years will be complete. I have taught you wisdom, Guiding down each path you meet. (Based on Proverbs 4:1-11)
The Book of Proverbs is God’s wisdom for today’s world. Even though it was written 3,000 years ago, God’s Word still speaks to us and gives advice through His eternal truths. The world around us has drifted far away from the truths of scripture. Many are not searching for God, they are searching for their own selfish fulfillment. They are living for self, not God. Why are people turning away from the truth? What are their excuses?
- Rebellion – “I want to do it my way.”
- Ignorance – “I don’t understand. No one told me.”
- Laziness – “I’ll get around to it some day.”
- Tradition – “I was not raised to believe.”
Listen to wise biblical advice. Teach it to your children and grandchildren. Live as an example of a forgiven, loved, and spirit-filled Christian who walks the path God sets before you.
