Hear my prayer, O God, For I am righteous through You. Relieve my distress. Remain merciful too. The Lord will hear me When I petition Him. He’ll set me apart; Help me never to sin. I’ll not be angry While on my bed at night. Search within my heart. Find trust and what is right. Many people ask, “Who can show what is good?” Lord, Your face is light. Shine on us as You should. Fill my heart with joy, More than the world can give. I will sleep in peace. In safety now I live. (Interpreted from Psalm 4)
Do you struggle to sleep? Does your mind race as you try to wind down and fall asleep? This psalm reassures us that God is in control and we can trust Him completely. That is the kind of truth we can sleep on.
In verse 1, David writes that God is our righteousness.( “O God of my righteousness!”) God offers this as a gift, to be received through faith not because we deserve it, but because we have been made right by an act of God’s great grace. Believers have the righteousness of Christ. When God looks upon us, He looks past our guilt and sees Christ.
Verse 6, “Lord, lift the light of Your countenance upon us.” When we know that the face of God shines favorably on us, it puts joy in our hearts.
Meditate on this beautiful Bible passage and offer your nights to the Lord!“You answer me when I call to You; You hear my every prayer. Your unwavering mercy delivers me from all worry and dismay. As I lay here in silence, Lord, I search my heart and my ways. The light of Your face shines forth on me as You fill my heart with gladness. In peace I lie down and sleep tonight, for You have made this dwelling a sure and trustworthy abode.” From Psalm91.com
