Psalm 33

Sing joyfully to the Lord, You righteous and upright. Praise the Lord with the harp. Make music to delight. Music on the ten-stringed lyre, Played skillfully with love. Sing to Him a new song, With shouts of joy above. The Lord’s word is right and true, Faithfulness of great worth. The Lord loves righteousness. His great truth fills the earth. The Lord’s words made the heavens, His breath, their starry host. He sets the sea in place. Stores the deep, coast to coast. Let all the earth fear the Lord. Let them also revere, For He spoke. It came to be. He calls. It will appear. The Lord can fail nations’ plans. Their purposes are stopped. But the plans of the Lord Always stand, never dropped. Ever blessed is the nation Whose God is the Lord. These people, He will choose. Their birthright, their reward. From heaven the Lord looks down And sees man and his worth. From His place He watches All who are on the earth. He who forms the hearts of all, Who regards all they do, Through all generations His heart’s desires shine through. No king is saved by the size Of his army of men. No warrior can escape By his great strength or pen. A horse is a man’s vain hope For deliverance now. Despite all its great strength It cannot save anyhow. But the eyes of the Lord God See those who know and fear. Who also hope in Him. His unfailing love, clear. His love seals and delivers From death and famine too. We wait in hope for Him To help, shield, and rescue. In Him our hearts will rejoice. For we trust in His name. May Your love rest on us Our hope in You we claim.
The all-seeing God is able to see everyone on earth. This is a sobering thought, yet it is comforting. He has promised, “I am with you always, even to the ends of the world.” ( Matthew 28:20). God is the creator of every man, whether rich or poor, high or low, believer or unbeliever! He knows our hearts, and He considers all of our works. It is wonderful to know that God is watching over us.
He protects us and guides us through life’s many obstacles. “I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (Psalm 32:8).This morning, as you got out of bed, the eyes of the Lord were watching over you. As you go about your day, the eyes of the Lord are watching over you. He loves with an unfailing love to help us, shield us, and give us hope.
At the end of the psalm we have a sudden shift from talking about God to a prayer to God. “Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in You.” (Psalm 33:22). Place your hope in God. There is no other place to go if you want to find the blessings of joy and peace.
