Worry and Fear (Part One)

Posted on July 8, 2022 by ruthbillingsley

Luke 12:22-28

Do not worry or fear
About your own life;
What you will eat or drink
Or what leads to strife.

Don’t ever be concerned
About what you wear;
Anxious with how you look,
Your clothes or your hair.

Life is much more than food,
Also more than clothes.
Consider the raven;
He neither reaps nor sows.

He has no storehouse,
Neither field nor farm.
God cares, and He feeds them
And keeps them from harm.

You are of more value
Than all of the birds.
Can you add to your life?
Those thoughts are unheard.

Because you are helpless
In all that you do,
Do not remain anxious;
God will see you through.

Consider the lilies
And see how they grow.
They do not work or strive,
However, we know,

Solomon in his glory
Was not dressed like these.
For God is in control.
He speaks. He decrees.

If God clothes the grasses
We see in the field,
Then thrown in the oven
And to the fire yield.

Realize how much more
He loves and clothes you.
Oh, you of little faith,
Now seek what is true.

Worry and fear come to us because of a lack of trust in God and His purpose and plan for our lives. Christ, who is our life, wants our purposes to be for His kingdom, not things of this earth. Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. Worrying does not change anything. It carries no power. God has all the power, love, and help we need. We can live without fear and without worry, for our Father’s care truly is enough. Do not worry when God asks you to take a leap of faith. Do not fear, just obey. Reflect on His Words about life.
