Day 4 of Creation
Genesis 1:14-19

And then God said, “Look up in the sky; In the expanse, be lights To serve as signs, to mark seasons, And to divide days and nights. The light will determine days and years As it shines all around. The greater light to rule the day; The moon at night is found.” He also made the stars for the night. God set them all above. He gave His light to all the earth. That showed His care and love. God saw that light and darkness were good. Evening and morning came. Now, this was the fourth day He made God’s creation acclaim.
This week we have had the opportunity to watch the lunar eclipse. It was cloudy in NW Arkansas so I was not able to view it first-hand. It is also knows as the “Blood Moon.” This occurrence is recorded in the Bible.
"And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; blood fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, an the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord." Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20 "I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood." Revelation 6:12
God divided day and night. The seasons He designed for summer, winter, spring and fall. The hours and days He designed by the rotation of the earth around the sun. God made two great lights, the sun and the moon. The moon does not make light; it is a reflection.
The sun is in its perfect spot to rule over the day and the moon at night. You and I are in our perfect spot to praise, worship, and serve; thus, we are also his shining lights.
Christ now holds all creation together. “He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.” Colossians 1:17 (NLT).
