The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
No one does good.
Their lives are full of fraud.
The Lord looks down from heaven
On the sons of men.
Do they understand
Or believe in God or sin?
All men have turned aside.
They have gone astray.
There is none good.
No, not one will obey.
Yet, God is always with us,
With His righteous men.
He is our refuge
When evil attacks again.
Now salvation will be ours.
Treasures He will add.
The Lord will restore
And His people will be glad.
(Based on Psalm 14)
This psalm introduces us to someone called “the fool.” He says in his heart, “There is no God”
Fools disregard God. They live, think, judge, and make decisions as if God does not have any real effect on the world. This way of life has consequences. God knows each one of us and gives us the freedom to believe in Him and His sovereignty. Those who choose to live for themselves David calls fools.
God is very real. The wise know that God exists and that the Lord will be their refuge. He will restore us from our sinful nature and bring us into His protective presence. Praise the Lord!
