Jabez was more honorable Than any of his brothers. His mother called his name Jabez. Her pain, more than others.
Jabez called on Israel’s God, “Oh, that You would see my need And enlarge my territory. Yes, O Lord, bless me indeed.
“Oh, that Your hand would be with me. Keep me from evil’s dark blast That I may not cause pain or hurt. ”So, God gave him all that he asked.
Have you prayed this prayer of Jabez? Called upon your God above? These four requests can then be yours As you see God’s grace and love.
First, I pray for blessings indeed, Blessings only God can give. His way and will, His place, His time, By His promises I live.
Next, enlarge my territory As my service grows and thrives. Let me do more for Your kingdom. May Your gospel touch more lives.
Third, that Your hand would be with me, Guiding each path that I choose, Giving me Your mighty power To see with heavenly views.
Fourth, keep me from all evil ways. Change every weakness to strength. Defend from harm that drags me down. Guard my life; keep sin at length.
God will answer courageous prayers. Submit and God’s truth will shine. God’s Word always stands and proclaims. Your faith is God’s great design. (Based on 1 Chronicles 4:9-10)
Bless me! We want to be blessed beyond our circumstances, and beyond what we can do in our own power. We want the power of God to do the impossible. We need that for our world, our nation, and our city. We want God to work through us for His glory.
Enlarge my territory! Our territory may be our church, our neighborhood, or our city; but it could be anywhere in the world. We are only limited by what we are willing to give to God.
Your hand be with me! God’s touch gives us courage, power, insight, and His spirit to do His will. When we doubt, we are doubting ourselves. God is able.
Keep me from evil! The evil that is in the world is a fearful thing. We need that hedge of protection from sin, from temptation, and from Satan. It may be a battle, but we know who wins the war.
