Be strong in the Lord
And in His mighty power.
Wear your full armor,
Ready at any hour.
Our strife, not with flesh,
But against the devil’s schemes.
Evil loves to prowl,
And dark forces they esteem.
Put on God’s armor,
Faith’s armor, and stand your ground.
So, when the day comes
Your protection will be sound.
Stand firm and with strength,
The belt of truth on your waist.
Also, your breastplate
Of God’s righteousness is placed.
Your feet are now fit
To wear the gospel of peace,
And take the shield
For your faith will then increase.
Now, safe from arrows,
Extinguish the fire and flames
That evil had sent.
Trust God; His victory claims.
And take the helmet
Of salvation and the sword,
Sword of the Spirit,
Which is the Word of the Lord.
Pray in the Spirit.
Each request is not too small.
Pray at any time.
God hears when you call.
So, wear God’s armor.
Be prepared with faith to fight.
Salvation leads you.
Victory with God in sight.
(Based on Ephesians 6:10-18)
Just as physical armor protects the soldier in the battlefield, the armor of God protects us in our spiritual battle. When fighting spiritual battles, believers should first pray and be alert. Watch for lies hidden in truth, for sin hidden by compromise, for peace hidden by worry, for faith hidden by doubt, and for salvation hidden in world philosophies. Use our only offensive weapon, the Word of God, to keep evil away. When we feel overwhelmed and tempted we should step forward in faith, remembering that we don’t rely on our own courage and strength, but on God. God is more powerful than any enemy or evil we will ever face. Draw your strength from the Lord and from His mighty power. We need not fear, no matter which direction evil comes from. God has us covered. This armor is a gift from God. Take it, try it on and see if it fits!
