It is good to praise the Lord.
Make music to His name.
Profess His love each morning.
At night, faithfulness claim.
Make music with the stringed lyre.
Harp’s melody employ.
O Lord, Your deeds make me glad.
Your works bring songs of joy.
How great are Your mighty works.
How profound are Your thoughts!
We praise Your great name, O Lord,
For wonders You have brought.

Music is a gift from God and it is used for many purposes. Scripture tells us we are to make melody in our hearts to the Lord. We praise and worship through song. We can give voice to our suffering, our struggles, our feelings, and can experience joy from within. Even when life is hard, we find peace and joy in Christ. Hymns help us express these feelings. Even when we feel frustrated with our nation and our world, and we are looking for beauty and finding none, we can look to songs. God invites us to make melodies in our hearts and learn about the power of this Psalm. Its words of praise expresses our joy and a refuge in our struggles.
