"He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God." Revelation 22:1
I saw the river of life,
Water that is crystal clear.
It flows from the throne of God
And of the Lamb we hold dear.
The tree of life will bear fruit,
Each month, abundant and free.
Its leaves will heal the nations.
No more curse or sin to see.
The Lamb of God on His throne,
His servants praise and proclaim.
They now see Him face to face,
And on their foreheads, His name.
The night will never appear.
No need for a lamp or sun
For the Lord God gives His light.
Etertnity has begun.
These words are faithful and true.
His angels, sent from above,
Will declare God's perfect plan,
Ruling all things with His love.
(Based on Revelation 22)
The picture above represents rivers that are always flowing. The River of God is a constant flow of His promises to meet the needs of our spiritual lives. It is also mentioned throughout the Bible to represent life. We need physical water to sustain life; we need spiritual water to have eternal life. In the Old Testament, as well as the New, we read about the life-giving water available to every man.
. “Jesus said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13
"How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And you give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.'" Psalm 36:7-9
"There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High."
Psalm 46:4
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:37-38
Not only does God sustain us and give us life, joy, and pleasure, but He has given us the Holy Spirit. From the Holy Spirit flows rivers of living water. Our Amazing Father has chosen to give us life and life abundantly so that His River is available to us. If we just take a moment to think about how awesome this is and what a privilege it is – we can not only have this life ourselves, but also pass it on to others.
The plentiful God has “leaves for the trees,’ “rain for the earth,” “stars for the sky,” “grass for all the cattle,” “seed for all the birds,” “water for all the fish,” “food for all the people,” “pardons for all the sins,” “salvation for all the sinners,” “grace for all our needs,” and “heavenly homes for all who will come.”
