God’s Glory

The heavens declare the glory of God. The skies, the work of His hands. Day by day their speech pours forth. At night knowledge expands. Their voice is heard in every speech. No language without its call. It goes into all the earth, To the ends of the world for all. In the heavens He has put up a tent, A tent for the mighty sun, Like a bridegroom coming forth. Like a champion glad to run. It rises at one end of the heavens. And orbits along its course. From one end to the other Nothing is hidden from its force. (Based on Psalm 19)
On April 8th we will have a solar eclipse. Those who experience the total eclipse will experience darkness for up to four minutes. Here in Rogers, Arkansas, it will begin at 12:33 with a max at 1:52, and will end at 3:10, for a total of 2 hours and 37 minutes.
Solar eclipses make God’s awe-inspiring power very evident. It is a reminder of His power, creativity and sovereignty over the universe. God has aligned the earth, sun, and moon into a wonderful reflection of and reminder of His wise creation. Could this only happen by chance?
While we watch the upcoming eclipse, we will be filled with awe that can motivate us to move closer to God. An eclipse lasts only a brief time, but the spiritual growth we can experience from moving closer to God afterward will benefit us forever.
Psalm 8:3-4 asks God; "When I consider your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?"
