Pentecost will come one day, And My Spirit will pour out On all flesh upon the earth. Languages will come about. Your sons and your daughters, too, Will prophesy decisions, And Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. I will pour out My Spirit On servants, women and men. I will call who I will choose To speak of evil and sin. I will show heaven’s wonders, And in all the earth below Blood, fire, and pillars of smoke Will arise, abound, and flow. The sun will turn to darkness, And the moon will turn to blood Before the coming great day. The day of the Lord will bud. Bud and bloom with salvation For soon it will come to be; Whoever calls on the name Of the Lord God will be free. Saved and delivered from sin. God’s Spirit will come to all. Just listen, and you will hear His grace and His mercy call. (Based on Joel 2:28-32)
God is faithful to His promises. He spoke to Joel in the Old Testament about the future coming of the Holy Spirit. This occurred first in Acts when the Holy Spirit was given to Jesus’ followers. The coming age of the church was born. This has continued to today and will continue as promised in the future.
The Holy Spirit now works in the hearts of men bringing conviction of sin, belief in God and the judgment to come. The Holy Spirit comes to live within the believer, and in the end times the judgments of God will come to our sinful world. Joel describes this time, perhaps in our near future, when God will gather all nations for judgment.
Is there a way of escape for this wrath to come when the sun will turn dark and the moon to blood? There is only one way. That is through Jesus Christ the Messiah. He offers forgiveness and the indwelling of HIs Spirit to everyone who calls on His name in faith and repentance. God will deliver us from that day and every day we live. Have you received this gift?
