Bless the Lord, O my soul, All my inmost being. Bless the Lord, O my soul, His benefits, freeing. Do not forget the Lord, Who forgives all your sins, Heals all your diseases And redeems you within. He crowns you with His love. Compassion will be yours. He satisfies desires And good things He assures. So your youth is renewed Like eagles that take flight. The Lord works righteousness And justice for man’s plight. (Based on Psalm 103:1-5)
“Bless the Lord.” What does that mean? How do we bless the Lord? We bless Him by acknowledging his attributes, praising Him, and worshiping Him. What does God command us to do in Deuteronomy 6: 5? “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy might.” That blesses the Lord!
We honor the name of God because he forgives us, heals us, redeems us , crowns us with his love and mercy, and he satisfies us with good things. So let’s not forget all His benefits. The character of God is boundless, beyond measure, and eternal. Putting your faith in the saving knowledge of Jesus, His Son, does not mean you will have a perfect, ideal life, but you will be satisfied with what God has given you and allowed you to experience. Even in old age, we can be useful in the work of the Lord. We are never too old to serve the Lord. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” When God calls us to our eternal home, we will have new life; one that is fresh and new. “His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s; he shall return to the days of his youth.'” Job 33:25
