I will praise You, O Lord With all of my heart. Before the gods I’ll sing. My praises impart. I will bow down to You, By Your holy place And I will praise Your name For Your love and grace. For You are exalted Above everything. Of Your name and Your word I will always sing. When I called, You answered. You have made me bold. May all the kings on earth Hear Your words unfold. May they praise You, O Lord And sing of Your ways, For the glory of God Will greatly amaze. Though the Lord is on high, He looks on the low. But the proud, the Lord knows From afar—such woe! Though I walk in trouble, You preserve my life. You stretch out Your great hand Against foes and strife. You save with Your right hand. Your purpose fulfill. Your love is forever. Your works move and thrill. (Based on Psalm 138)
“Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord all the earth.” Psalm 96:1
Giving thanks to God is important and there are many ways to express our gratitude. Praise, worship, and singing are only a few. Believe in His promises and trust He knows best in all circumstances. Believe in His gifts of truth, love and mercy. Pray, read the Scriptures and follow what God puts on your heart. Be humble, serve Him and the people that He puts in your life. Think about how God displays His majesty around you and thank Him. Listen to praise music and let it cheer your heart. Worship alone and with others in church. He is honored by both. God’s name is to be lifted up and praised.
Moses asked for God’s name so he could understand and tell the Israelites who God was. God replied, “I AM WHO I AM.” This means He is self-existent, He is eternal and unchangeable, and always the same, yesterday, today, and forever. He is who He says He is.
This psalm reminds us that God is a God who remembers and cares. He is worthy of thanks and worship. He is a God above all gods. Celebrate Him.
