As I sit on the beach on Captiva Island, Florida, this week, I see the mighty ocean waves pound against the shore. We have had a few days of storms, which make the waves crash with powerful strength. But that is nothing compared to the power and strength of God.
The Lord reigns, robed in majesty. His strength ever proved The world is firmly established. It cannot be moved. Your throne, established long ago. Your robe, righteousness. You are from all eternity. You are measureless. The seas have lifted up, O Lord, Lifted up their voice. And lifted up their pounding waves, But You are our choice. For You are mightier than all The thunder of waves. Mightier than the sea’s breakers. The Lord on high saves. Your statues stand firm and secure. Holiness abides. Your holiness adorns Your house. Endless days reside. (Interpreted from Psalm 93)
Psalm 93 praises the Lord who reigns. It reminds us to praise His majesty, His strength, His throne, His robe of righteousness, His might, His statutes, His holiness, and His salvation.
“He sits as King, higher than the spray is tossed, deeper than the fathomless depths; mightier than the strongest billow. Let Him but say, ‘Peace be still!’ and the greatest storm that ever swept the waves with wild fury sinks into the tranquil sleep of childhood.” -Meyer
This is not just who He is, but what He does. Has He calmed your storm? Are things out of control for you? Let God be in control. He is clothed in majesty as King, yet, He dwells among us – in the hearts of believers – and He will calm your storm.
