The heavens declare the glory of God. The skies, the work of His hands. Day by day their speech pours forth. At night knowledge expands. Their voice is heard in every speech. No language without its call. It goes into all the earth, To the ends of the world for all. In the heavens He has put up a tent, A tent for the mighty sun, Like a bridegroom coming forth. Like a champion glad to run. It rises at one end of the heavens. And orbits along its course. From one end to the other Nothing is hidden from its force. The law of the Lord is perfect. It revives the soul of man. His statutes are trustworthy. Making wise the simple, His plan. The precepts of the Lord are good. Giving us joy in our hearts. His commands are radiant And light to our eyes He imparts. The fear of the Lord endures forever. His ways are faultless and pure. They are completely righteous And His ordinances are sure. They are sweeter than honey, And much more precious than gold. By them is your servant warned. Keep them, your reward will unfold. Who can discern his errors? Please forgive my hidden faults. Keep me too, from willful sins. May they never rule or exalt. Then will I be innocent and blameless Of transgressions great and small. I will be free of my sins, And the Lord will be overall. May my words be pleasing Lord. My heart’s meditation too. May they be pleasing in Your sight, My Rock, my Redeemer, so true. Interpreted from Psalm 19
During a recent visit to Chicago, I spent some time at this remarkable sculpture. It is known for its unique reflections. On this sunny day, as I walked around and under this bean-shaped, giant drop of liquid mercury, I admired the amazing reflections of the sky, the buildings, and myself in its mirrored surface. It reminded me of the reflections of God in the world and in our lives. Everything in creation reflects God’s beauty, majesty, love, and provision.
Reflection is a way to look at and evaluate ourselves. We are called to reflect God in our actions, our thoughts, and our words, so that others can see the kindness, love, and grace that He has brought into our lives. That is our way of helping others know Him. Even in stressful situations we can let circumstances bring us down or we can see the tests and trials as a way to strengthen our faith. By walking close to God and finding peace and understanding in each situation, we can grow in our faith and knowledge of Him and His Word. Let’s be a light to the world and show others how wonderful God is.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
