Today is the day That the Lord has made. So let us rejoice And not be dismayed. O Lord, You save us. You grant us success. He who comes to Him The Lord God will bless. He has made His light To shine upon us. So with boughs in hand We worship and trust. We join together On our festal way Up to the altar, Our respects to pay. You are my Lord God. Thanks to You I’ll give. I will exalt You. For You I will live. Give thanks to the Lord Because He is good. His love will expand To all brotherhood. Psalm 118
I have my favorite spot to fish at Roaring River. As we walked down the bank, early in the morning, I saw it would only be us. Perfect day, perfect water, lovely experience.
I went fishing last week with a new friend, Erin Rowe. She is also an author who was speaking at an event that I was attending. I learned that she enjoyed fly fishing too, and so the adventure began. We traveled to my favorite spot early in the morning. As we walked to the water, I saw it would only be us and I was thankful for the blessing. I thought of the words from an old song, “Hello River, my old friend; I come to fish with you again.” We waded down the familiar stream a couple of times, casting our lines, and hoping that fish would bite. We were startled by a beaver swimming under the water right in front of us. “What kind of fish is that?” We experienced knotted and broken lines, snagged hooks, and strike indicators that wouldn’t cooperate, but those interruptions do not compare to God’s beautiful creation, the fun of catching a few trout, and the friendship that was made.
