Proverbs 1:20-33

Wisdom calls aloud To all in the gates of the city. She speaks to all who hear, “The simple, I’ll pity. Respond to my rebuke. I pour out my heart to you. As I make my words known, I called, but you withdrew. You rejected my hand, Ignored my advice, Dismissed my rebuke, Ao I’ll refuse to be nice. I’ll laugh at your hardships; I’ll mock when terror comes, Turn my back on your storms; And when all is burdensome, Then you will call on me; No answer will I give. They will look for me, Not finding where I live. Since they hated knowledge And do not fear the Lord, They will now eat the fruit Of their schemes so abhorred. Man’s folly will kill him. Arrogance will destroy, But whoever listens Will be secure in joy.”
Solomon gives wisdom a voice and she calls to everyone, but most will not listen. Wisdom is desperate for anyone to hear her message. Why? Because wisdom is connected to godliness, while sin is only foolishness. Wisdom is walking with God. It is a gift from Him and is freely given to those who humble themselves. When the proud reject wisdom’s call, she laughs. Men call out to be rescued but not to repent. Fools live for themselves and do not take God seriously. They are reaping what they have sown.
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." Galatians 6:7
Those who listen to wisdom will be secure and will find true peace, even in the midst of a storm. The wise person is not necessarily a person who knows everything, but is open to wisdom and willing to learn. Are you listening?
