Psalm 91

I will dwell in the shelter Of the Most High And find rest in His shadow, Safe, drawing nigh. I will say of my Savior, “He will help me. My fortress and my refuge, My trust He’ll see.” He’ll save from the fowler’s snare, From sufferings. He’ll cover with His feathers. Safe in His wings. His faithfulness is my shield. I will not fear. Every terror of the night Will disappear. The arrow that flies by day Will hit a snag. No pestilence in the dark, No midday plague. A thousand fall at my side, Yes, I can see. Trouble falls at my right hand, But not near me. I will observe with my eyes Punishment, pleas. The wicked will be destroyed, But I am free. Make the Most High my dwelling. Safe in the Lord. Who is my refuge, my home, My great reward. Then no harm will befall me. Disaster? No. He will command His angels. Safety bestow. Angel’s hands will lift me up And guard my way. Strike my foot against a stone? Never, I pray. I will tread on the lion, The cobra, too. I will trample the lion, Serpents, a few. “Because of your love,” says the Lord, “I’ll rescue you. Because you claim to know Me, I’ll protect too.
“Fear Is a Liar,” a popular song by Zack Williams, encourages us to see fear as the opposite of faith. Fear causes us to look at our circumstances instead of depending on the Lord. Courage is the ability to face difficulty, danger, or pain without fear. It is bravery. Courage is not doing something dangerous for thrills. Courage is not having faith in yourself to overcome. True courage is fear that has said its prayers, depending on God to overcome and find peace.

“The only known antidote to fear is faith.”

Faith believes God’s promises, from Psalm 91.
- We will live under His shelter.
- We will find rest in His shadow.
- He will cover us with His feathers and find safety in His wings.
- His angels will protect us.
- His protection and rescue comes through our love for HIm.
- He will deliver us from trouble.
- He will sanctify us.
What is our part in all of this? Faith in God’ promises.
