Psalm 24

The earth is the Lord’s And all it contains. The world is the Lord’s And all who remain. For He founded it Upon all the seas. And established it With authority. Who ascends the hill Of the Lord with grace? Who may stand with Him In His holy place? He who has clean hands And has a pure heart. Who flees from idols And from lies depart. He receives blessings From the Lord above. Vindication too From God, who he loves. Each generation That seeks the Savior Will receive blessings And endless favor. So lift up your heads O you gates and doors. The King of glory Comes and restores. Who is this strong King, This King of glory? The Lord Almighty, Worthy, His story.
Psalm 24 proclaims the majesty of God. His creation was the beginning of rolling hills, high mountains, the galaxies of stars and the mighty oceans. It all belongs to Him. The question is asked, “Who can stand with God?” The answer is simple. Those who have clean hands and a pure heart. Our world is full of evil and sin that keep us from a right relationship with God, but for those who are redeemed, God gives blessings here on earth and life eternal. God will not see our sins because they have been covered by Christ’s shed blood on the cross.
Christ will enter Jerusalem again, at His second coming. The gates will open and He will arrive as the conquering King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:11–16).

We are commanded to look up and open the gates and doors. Why? So the King of glory can come in. The gates of our hearts will spring open and we will find freedom. God is not just the King, but the King of glory. His glory comes into our lives and changes us forever.
