Hurricane Ian

The Trials of Life

Andy Rosse Lane, Captiva Island, Florida

Our beloved Captiva Island has been devastated by Hurricane Ian. It is on the barrier island next to Fort Myers, Florida. Our two homes on Laika Lane are unreachable because the causeway bridge has collapsed. We do not know the extent of the damage but it will be extensive. The island was hit by Hurricane Charley in 2004 and it was built back, so it will some day be restored once again.

God brings storms into our lives, some are physical and some are spiritual.

Count it all joy
When trials arrive,
Testing your faith.
For patience strive.

Then patience yields
Its perfect deed.
Completes your life.
Gives all you need.

Wisdom you lack?
Come, ask the Lord.
He gives to all.
Your faults ignored.

But ask in faith,
Without a doubt,
Or you'll be like
The sea, tossed about.

Be focused, sure,
Steadfast; believe.
Then from the Lord
You will receive.

Blessed is the man
Who endures trials.
When he prevails
God sees and smiles.

He will receive
The crown of life.
Promised by God
Through all the strife.
