The voice of Jehovah comes to us, As it came in Elijah’s day. Just listen, and you will hear The words He wants to say. Now go forth and stand on the mountain. Jehovah will pass by. Mountains break in pieces, As the mighty winds sigh. But Jehovah is not in the wind, Neither in the earthquake. He is not in the fire, Yet He speaks for your sake. Now hear a whisper; a still, small voice. It’s meant only for you. Listen and obey Him. His words will guide you through. Guide you in times of fear and of doubt. God will call out your name. In every circumstance, His words remain the same. 1 Kings 19
Elijah is running for his life. Jezebel seeks revenge because he executed all the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel. She was a worshipper of Baal and had killed many Godly prophets and now she is after him. Elijah, after receiving food from an angel, journeys 40 days and nights to Mount Horeb, also known as Mount Sinai. In fear, he takes shelter in a cave. There God speaks to him and gives him direction.
Have you needed direction? Have you needed a word from God? You can hear God speak to you at anytime when you read the Bible. He can speak to you through a song or hymn, a loved one, or in prayer. Remain quiet and listen to God. Listen for His still, small voice.
To hear the voice of God, we must find silence. Silence from cell phones, TV, radio, and computers. Follow the words of God in Psalm 46:10 ” Be still, and know that I am God.”
