In the beginning, God created The heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, Awaiting its new birth. Darkness was on the face of the deep, And God’s Spirit was there. He hovered over the waters, And God spoke to declare, “Let there be light,” and it all shown bright. God saw that it was good. He divided light from darkness, And the earth understood. God called the light “day,” the darkness “night.” Evening and morning born. This was God’s plan of earth’s first day. His light would now adorn.
Light – God’s first miracle of creation recorded in the Bible. He spoke – and it was! By the power of his voice earth was born. Think about what light does:
- It dispels darkness.
- It reveals all things.
- It helps us find our way.
- It reveals incredible beauty around us.
- It gives warmth.
- It produces energy and power.
- It is essential for growth and healing.
Light is both physical and spiritual. Light is hope. It dispels the darkness of sin and lets the light of salvation shine through. It allows Christians to let the light of faith shine in their lives.
The Light is Christ.
Jesus said: "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made though Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it." John 1:1-5 Jesus is the only source of true light in this spiritually dark world. He conquered the darkness of sin when He gave His life on Calvary and His light is in every heart that trust in Him. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105 What path will you walk on today? The world is watching. Will you be shining His light?
