You grant man relief from trouble. For the wicked, pits are secure. Your men won’t be rejected. Your inheritance is sure. Judgment will be founded upon Righteousness, honesty, and truth. And all the upright in heart Will follow it from their youth. Who will rise up for me and fight? Who will stand against evil men? Unless the Lord gives me help, I would dwell in death and sin. When I said, “My foot is slipping,” Your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great, You brought joy and harmony. Can a corrupt throne be with You, One that brings misery and woe? They band together against All the righteous men they know. But the Lord is my fortress, My rock, refuge and precious gem. He’ll repay their wickedness. Our great God will destroy them. Psalm 94:13-23
This world is not our friend. We can count on trouble while living on this earth. Violence, hatred, and lack of freedom to pray or to carry the Bible are only a few examples of our trouble. Remember, our enemy is not people. It is Satan who rules over all the evil in the world.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
Yet we know that God will have the final judgment, but for today He calls us to stand up for justice and righteousness by leaning on Him for strength and courage. When we are troubled, we can rely on the His Word for our defense, our refuge, and our rock. Jesus is not only our best defense, He is the only defense that will win!
