Psalm 94:1-12 O Lord, the God who chastises, O God, who avenges, shine true. Rise up, O Judge of the earth. Pay back to the proud their due. How long will the wicked, O Lord, Be jubilant while in their sin? They pour out arrogant words. They boast while crushing Your men. They murder Your people, O Lord. Your inheritance they oppress, The widow, the alien, And also the fatherless. They say, “The Lord does not see us. The God of Jacob pays no heed.” But you are the senseless ones. You fools, our God sees your need. Does He who made the ear not hear? Does He who formed the eye not see? Does He who rules not punish? Does He who teaches know me? The Lord knows man’s thoughts. He knows that each one is in vain. Blessed is the man You teach, For Your law, Lord, will remain.
God is the Judge of heaven and earth. This is a prayer or petition asking God to intervene because of injustice. Those who are proud must learn to be humble and repent. This is a plea for God to come, judge the wicked, and put an end to them.
Wicked men oppress those who are weak with their words and their actions. Their intentions are to help themselves rather than the weak and disadvantaged.
Our evil society denies the God who sees, who knows, who cares, and who loves. The God of creation, who made our intricate bodies, the God of knowledge and understanding, who hears and sees our cries. He knows our thoughts and the intent of our hearts. He will not desert the godly in their troubles and wants to teach them lessons of patience and love. Our hope is in the Lord and we trust in His eternal justice.
God has His own timetable, but we ask Him to help us when we see evil around us. How long will there be injustice? Until Jesus returns.
"In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33
