Week Twelve
Trusting God With the Whys

Why Why is there pain in my life today? Why is there violence and sin? Why do the wicked seem to succeed And disorder falls among men? Our lives are filled with a lot of why's. We do not understand God's ways. Yet He is our strength; in Him we trust And cling to Him all of our days. We choose to trust God in the darkness. He is always our hope and peace. When we determine to live by faith All our why's can then be released. Released to the God who rules above. Every life He has always known. Rejoice in the God of salvation. Forever He reigns on His throne.
All of us face trials. Our tendency is to see how we can avoid them, but a faithful response to bad times can be an opportunity to grow in our Christian walk. Here are some ways to be encouraged:
- Realize that difficulties come into everyone’s life.
- It is attitude that determines the outcome. We ask “why?” Look closely. God has a reason.
- We can be certain God has a purpose in our trials. Look for certain characteristics it will produce.
- We were not intended to go through our bad times alone. Ask others to help, pray, and give wise advice.
- God intends for our trials to become blessings. If you have used a glow stick, you know you have to break it in order for it to shine. We are to be glow sticks. Breaking us can make us stronger. If things are easy our faith does not show. It is when things are hard and we stand up for our faith that we shine.
God doesn’t explain our “why’s”, instead He tells us to trust Him for what we don’t understand. Life has times of prosperity and times of hardship. We all need a faith that endures through the times when we can’t see what God is doing, but we know Him and we know we can trust His perfect ways. God is our strength and refuge when we wonder “why.” That calms our anxious hearts.
This week concludes our study of “Calm My Anxious Heart.” May your days be filled with God’s blessings as you trust in Him.
