Psalm 91

I will dwell in the shelter Of the Most High And find rest in His shadow, Safe, drawing nigh. I will say of my Savior, “He will help me. My fortress and my refuge, My trust He’ll see.” He’ll save from the fowler’s snare, From sufferings. He’ll cover with His feathers. Safe in His wings. His faithfulness is my shield. I will not fear. Every terror of the night Will disappear. The arrow that flies by day Will hit a snag. No pestilence in the dark, No midday plague. A thousand fall at my side, Yes, I can see. Trouble falls at my right hand, But not near me. I will observe with my eyes Punishment and pleas. The wicked will be destroyed, But I am free. Make the Most High my dwelling. Safe in the Lord. Who is my refuge, my home, My great reward. Then no harm will befall me. Disaster? No. He will command His angels. Safety bestow. Angel’s hands will lift me up And guard my way. Strike my foot against a stone? Never, I pray. I will tread on the lion, The cobra, too. I will trample the lion, Serpents, a few. “Because of your love,” says the Lord, “I’ll rescue you. Because you claim to know Me, I’ll protect too. You call on me, I’ll answer. With You I’ll be. In trouble I’ll deliver. And set you free. I’ll honor you with long life. And satisfy. You will know My salvation. I’ll sanctify.”
Psalm 91, God’s word of comfort, was written long ago but is still touching lives today because God’s word is eternal. His protection is described as a shelter, His shadow, a fortress, a refuge, His wings, and a shield. These protections are ours to keep us from fear and anxiety.
We have threats from enemies, disease, and epidemics. However, we are assured of God’s protection at all times. He will command His angels to guard our way.

At the end of Psalm 91 God’s blessings are poured out on us because of our love for Him. He will rescue, protect, answer, and be with us during all of our trouble. He can set us free, honor us with long life, and satisfy. He will show us His salvation.

I pray that Psalm 91 will encourage you and give you new hope today. Whatever you are facing, whatever challenges you have, know that God’s love surrounds you. You can rest in Him because you are safe under the shelter of His unchanging faithfulness.
