Let not the wise man glory In his wisdom so smart, Or the mighty in strength, Or he rich set apart. But let him who glories Have glory in this, That he understands Me And he know Me – such bliss. Know that I am the Lord. There is no one like Me. I show loving-kindness, And judgment I decree. I exercise righteousness Over all the earth. These things are My delight, For I am mighty in worth. Jeremiah 9:23-24
Man’s wisdom is limited. Man’s strength will fade in time. Man’s riches are temporary and do not bring peace. What really matters? Our relationship with God. Our wisdom, might and riches will ultimately let us down. There are questions you cannot answer, there are problems you cannot overcome alone, there is a price for sin you cannot pay. No matter your circumstance you can boast in one thing, GOD!

So consider your calling Because you are not wise, Not powerful or noble. These things you recognize. For God has chosen these: The foolish, not wise, The weak, not the strong. The lowly with no guise. So He might bring to nothing Everything we adore, That no one will be boasting Of anything more Than our Lord Jesus Christ, Our wisdom is He, Our only righteousness, Our one security. Sanctified and redeemed. All these, our reward. So boast if you must, But only in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
We are to consider our calling. What do you do when God calls you to serve Him? Do we find excuses or do we choose to rise and trust Him who asks us and also enables us to serve successfully? God chooses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. When God comes knocking on our heart’s door let us be receptive for our sovereign God knows what He is doing.
