Proverbs 3:1-8

The book of Proverbs is God’s wisdom for today’s world. Even though written 3,000 years ago, His Word still speaks to us and gives us advice through His eternal truths.
God’s Laws Do not forget My laws, for then you will have peace. Keep My commands within and your days will increase. Let not mercy and truth forsake you or depart. Bind them around your neck; write them within your heart. Then you will find favor, high esteem, and respect In the sight of the Lord, and to all men reflect. Trust Trust in the Lord your God; trust Him with all your heart. Lean not on your own strength, but on God from the start. Acknowledge Him; submit to God in all your ways. He will direct your paths; guide you through all your days. Do not be wise or smart in your own self or eyes. Fear the Lord and depart from evil, shame, and lies. It will be health to you, strength and might to your bones. You will then understand; God controls all unknowns.
In verses 1-2, it is our part to remember God’s commands, be obedient, and be loyal. God promises peace and long life.
In verses 3-4, it is our part to be merciful, seek truth, and write them on our hearts. God promises His approval and respect from man.
In verses 5-8, it is our part to trust God with all our heart and rely on God’s strength. He promises to direct our path and guide our lives. It is our part to reject our own wisdom, depart from evil and understand God’s sovereignty. God promises health and strength. God controls everything.
It is not important that we don’t know the future, only that God knows. It is not important that we can’t control events, only that we know God does and we trust Him and submit to Him. God will not let us down. He will lead us to where we need to be.
