Prisoners in Chains
Psalm 107:10-16
Some sat in darkness
And the deepest gloom.
Prisoners in chains
Despair to consume.
For they had rebelled
Against God’s own words
And despised counsel
Of what they had heard.
So He caused them grief
In bitter travail.
With no one to help
They stumbled and fell.
Then they cried to God
In their woe so great
And He saved them from
Their distressed estate.
He brought them away
From darkness and gloom,
Broken from their chains,
Broken from their doom.
Let them now give thanks
For unfailing love.
For wonderful deeds
From the Lord above.
For He breaks down gates,
Gates of bronze, iron bars.
All for His people.
How cherished they are.
Do we see ourselves as prisoners? We are told in God’s word that sin binds us, restricts us, and enslaves us. We are chained to our behavior, attitudes, and habits of fear, worry, anxiety, and addiction. How do we break free from these chains?
1. Remember who you are in Jesus.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”Galatians 5:1
2. Rely on God’s strength, not your own.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
3. Fight the lies of the world by focusing on God’s life-changing truth.
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
4. Be willing to be set free, healed, and made whole.
That is God’s Amazing Grace!
