Darkness to Light

Posted on February 5, 2021 by ruthbillingsley

Our nation is in a dark place as we experience division, unrest, hate, conflicts, protests, pandemic, grief, and loss. If this is what our minds are focused on, we are living in darkness. How do we move from this darkness of worry and despair? By making good choices! Choose faith, prayer, and repentance as we focus on God. His light that overcomes darkness is Christ, the author and giver of all light. When God is present, the atmosphere changes. No longer is despair the mood. When God is Lord of our lives everything changes.

We may never be able to explain our feeling of darkness; however, what God offers is Himself. He promises the darkness will not consume us. We can experience a glimpse of God’s promised light when we trust in Him. His future glory and His present hope brings light to our lives. Our hope, our only hope is in His light, which brings:

Darkness of Bondage to Light of Liberty
Darkness of Suffering to Light of Life
Darkness of Loneliness to Light of Love

Let Christ’s Light shine in your heart. It is a choice!
DARKNESS TO LIGHT

When I’m living in darkness,
Sinking low in despair,
Suffering in silence,
I feel too much to bear.

I will cry out to Jesus,
”Will You come help me now?
Reach out and rescue me,
And comfort me somehow.”

I am feeling unworthy,
And the world pulls me down.
I’m covered with sorrow,
Feeling that I may drown.

But I pray to my Lord God,
Who sees me as I grieve.
He hears me when I cry.
He speaks, and I believe.

Now I will live in His light,
Not kept in my dark place;
Not held by self and sin,
But rescued by His grace.

Hope is in Christ our Savior.
Great joy inside He gives.
Not what I encounter,
But because Jesus lives.

So when I am feeling down,
Anxious and overwrought,
I’ll remember to pray.
Jesus hears every thought.

”People who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light.
In the land of death’s shadow,
Upon them it shines bright.”
                                Isaiah 9:2
