Psalm 148 Raise Your Voices to God Praise the Lord from the heavens. Praise Him in the heights above. Praise Him, all His angels, All heavenly host, with love. Praise Him, sun and moon and sky. Praise Him, every shining star. Praise Him, you highest heaven And you waters, near and far. Let them praise the Lord’s great name, For He created them all. He set their place forever. His decrees will never fall. Now praise the Lord from the earth, Sea creatures and ocean deep, Lightning, hail, snow, smoke and winds, They obey. His words they keep. You mountains, all hills, and trees, Wild animals, cattle, birds, Kings of the earth, all nations, Their praises to God are heard. Princes and rulers on earth, Maidens, children, and all men Together raise their voices To praise the Lord God again. For His name alone is great, Exalted above the earth. He has raised up strong people, Close to His heart, of great worth. Praise the Lord!
I am writing this week’s blog from the island of Antigua in the West Indies. After two cancellations, Bob and I are now celebrating our June 20, 2020 anniversary. I chose Psalm 148 because it is a song of creation, and how beautiful God’s creation is! This psalm begins with heaven’s praise and then the praise of all the earth. Yes, all things created are called to praise God, even creatures, mountains, and seas. Why? Because they are being what they were created to be. They serve the Lord’s purpose.
Praise began at the dawn of time (Job 38:3-7) and will continue until the last sunset of time (Revelation 19:1-7).

One of the hymns we sing at Christmas is a beautiful picture of the joy we experience when praising God. Isaac Watts wrote it in 1719.
Joy to the World Joy to the world! The Lord is come, Let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room, And heaven and nature sing. Joy to the earth! The Savior reigns, Let men their songs employ. While field and floods, rocks, hills, and plains Repeat the sounding joy.
Enjoy the handiwork of God. Enter it, see it, feel it, smell it, touch it, and know it is the Father’s world and praise Him.
