Let It Snow

Posted on January 29, 2021 by ruthbillingsley
Snowy Day

We have had some snowy days this winter, even a little this week. On December 13th we had 8 inches. When God sends such beautiful snow I am reminded of this poem I wrote 20 years ago in 2000.

Snow

Snow is a reminder of
God’s manna from above
Falling still upon the earth,
A picture of His love.

Fill us with the bread of life.
Satisfy our thirsting too,
As we come to heaven’s table
God’s word forever true.

Snow is a reminder of
White linen in the tomb.
Christ suffered for the sins of man
And rose again so soon.

Wash us until we become
Whiter than the snow.
Jesus paid the price for us.
His forgiveness now we know.

Snow is a reminder of
The fields of white we see,
Harvests of lost souls on earth.
Can they see Christ in me?

Give us your power, love, and strength
To fight each battle for you,
And draw every man to know you, Lord.
Every word you speak is true.

Snow is a reminder of the pure white horse,
Carrying our Savior, faithful and true.
Riding to conquer evil and death,
Heaven’s open for me and you.

Praise God who is coming to gather His children,
And take them home to stay.
Eternal and free to praise and adore
Our Savior and King every day.

I took this picture of the sunrise on December 15, 2020

This picture reminds me of snow and fire. In Revelations 1:14, John sees Christ as the Son of Man. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire. Daniel 7:9 states, ” I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire.” These verses express God’s glory, majesty, and authority, and in the future every knee will bow to Jesus Christ, our Lord.

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

We look forward to the hope and joy when Christ’s kingdom is ushered in.
