As we observe our nation in turmoil, we may think we are powerless and there is nothing we can do. Evil has taken a front seat on this journey we are on, and we are in the back seat feeling helpless to control the road we are traveling. This way of thinking is wrong. We have within ourselves the power to change everything. That mighty power is prayer.

Moses interceded for the people. He gazed on God, face to face. He prayed in faith and believed, Pleading for mercy and grace, "You go before us in a cloud, At night, by a burning fire. Now I pray, be with us all, For this is my heart’s desire. "You, Lord, are long-suffering, Abundant in grace and love. Forgive our iniquity, And send Your love from above. "Pardon now our every sin, For your favor remains great. Clear away our transgressions, For forgiveness we await." Then the Lord said to Moses, “Because of your prayer to Me I have pardoned everyone And My glory you will see.” God’s name is seen in the clouds And at night His fire glows bright. He’s in the hearts of each man And His truth shines forth as light. Be salt and light to all you meet And spread God’s love all around. God hears each and every word And your deeds of love resound. Like Moses, keep on praying. Intercede for all the earth. God loves each and everyone. They are gifts of precious worth. Numbers 14:14-21
We have the ability to intercede for the people as Moses did. He prayed in faith for his nation, his people, and their sin. God answered him and forgave them. God’s mercy is great and His forgiveness is divine. What was true when Moses prayed is true today. Christ’s life and His death is a picture of God’s pardoning love. Now Christ intercedes for us. He is the true Mediator.
Mercy, and mercy only, is the plea of Moses. Under both the old covenant and the new salvation our prayers are based on our faith and God’s character of mercy and love. As we pray for our nation, let God see your heart, let Him see your love, let Him see your trust, let Him see your faith. Prayer is powerful and it can change everything. Let’s get behind the wheel on this journey and let God direct our way.
