It seems like I wake up every morning to a new peril: virus pandemic, earthquakes, hurricanes, widespread fires, looting, rioting, and shootings; but I get up, pick up my bible and a cup of coffee and sit on the back patio with God and His creation. There I find peace. Why? Because God promises to be with me and help me every step of the way: every path I take, every decision I make, every joy, sorrow, fear, hurt, pain and every doubt.
Here are 6 scriptures that will bring peace:
l. Take your worries to the Lord.
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NKJV)
2. Believe God hears you.
“I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and He will hear me.”(Psalm 77:1 ESV)
3. Pray with expectancy.
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:6 ESV)
4. Remain wise and discerning.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5 NKJV)
5. Seek opportunities to help others.
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Galatians 5:13-14 NKJV)
6. Pursue peace.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-8 My life verse from The Living Bible)
Peace comes even in the midst of chaos. Why? Because our hope is not in this world but in Christ, and Christ has overcome the world. Our sure foundation is in Him.
God’s Help Are you worried by trials? Feeling weak and in strife Trying hard every day, But sorrow fills your life? Are you beat down, troubled, By the words that are said; Disappointments and fear Of what might lie ahead? You can trust in the Lord; And He will see you through. He hears you when you pray. Your trials He foreknew. He promises, “Fear not, For I’m your Lord God, Never be dismayed, Wherever you may trod. I am always with you. I will give you My strength. I will also help you; And go to any length. I will ever hold you With My righteous right hand, So give Me your trials. Your fears I understand. Release them now to Me. Don’t ever hold them near. Find joy in trusting Me; And My grace will appear. Problems won’t go away, But peace will fill your soul. My hand is strong and sure, And all is in control.” Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
