Have you ever heard God call your name? When He did, were you listening? God has a lot to say to us, but we tune Him out most of the time. I have heard Him speak to my heart, but this doesn’t mean I always listen and obey. However, He never gives up on me!

In 1 Kings 19, Elijah has run away and hidden from the threats of Jezebel, who wants to kill him. He is hidden in a cave when God speaks to him. Elijah tells God how afraid he is because he is experiencing suffering for obeying God. Elijah was depressed. He was exhausted, fearful, isolated and had lost all hope. He measured his worth by his accomplishments and came up short. He was at the end of his rope.
God tells him to come out of the cave and stand on the mountain. A mighty, destructive wind came, an earthquake and a fire, but God was not in any of them. God spoke to him in a still small voice and told him what to do.
A Still, Small Voice The voice of Jehovah comes to us As it came in Elijah’s day. Just listen and you will hear The words He wants to say. Now go forth and stand on the mountain. Jehovah will pass by. Mountains break in pieces As the mighty winds sigh. But Jehovah is not in the wind, Neither in the earthquake. He is not in the fire, Yet He speaks for your sake. Now hear a whisper, a still small voice. It’s meant only for you. Listen and obey Him. His words will guide you through. Guide you through times of fear and of doubt. God will call out your name. In every circumstance His words remain the same.
Growing in faith can be tough at times and is a lifelong journey. It can be hard, but we should never give up on ourselves or God. Listening to God is not always easy, but it is always rewarding because we find peace. The Lord reveals Himself to us in the quiet moments of our lives. Is there too much noise in your life that God’s gentle voice gets lost in the clutter? God may be calling you today. That means you are chosen. What does He want you to do? Will you listen?
Jesus says, “My sheep know My voice, and they follow Me.” John 10
“I have called you by name, you are Mine.” Isaiah 43:1
God seeks your presence. He has a message for you.
Now go forth and stand on your mountain.
