Morning at the Beach

Posted on April 24, 2020 by ruthbillingsley

How many sunrises have I seen on Captiva Island beach in Florida? I have added up all of our trips and estimate over 150 times! I get up every morning before dawn and walk down the sandy path to experience one of the most humbling, yet delightful times of my life, the beautiful, peaceful, and inspiring change of the night into the glorious, inspiring sunrise.

Each day is different, like the shells I find along the way. As I walk the water’s edge, no one else around, I think of this vast universe and my insignificance. Why am I here and what is my purpose? One morning, as I looked up into the forming clouds of the day, I took this picture. Is that an angel looking over me? God’s answer came, “Yes, you are important, you are here to talk with Me, you are here to honor and believe in Me. I was not alone! Why me? Because God!

              Why Me?

See the earth's expanse.
The thought is so great.
In God's own timing,
He spoke to create.

Today, here I am
In this universe,
With stars and planets
Which God dispersed.

Did He think of me
When He made this place?
Did His love shine bright
On His perfect face?

Did He send His Son
When He saw my plight?
When evil abounds
Do tears fill His sight?

May I shine His light
In darkness and death
Until the earth ceases
And takes its last breath.
